DESERT THOUGHTS

Taj Malabar hotel is an 84 year old hotel in Kochi. It was originally known as Willingdon hotel way back in the mid 30's and then Malabar hotel.  I celebrated my first birthday here when it was just Malabar hotel and not part of Taj On the 25th of December, I went there with my family for a Christmas buffet lunch. We reached there by around 1 pm. And we did not have a reservation. Luckily, they got us tables on the lawn outside. There was a wide spread of starters including roast pork, gnocchis pasta and green pasta. I chose the roast pork, gnocchis pasta and the green pasta. It was very tasty.  I liked their roast pork and their pastas coz that was the best. I had their oysters for the first time. It was good and we ordered some more of it For the soup, they had the chicken soup and the vegetable soup. Spring restaurant is located on the 1st floor of avenue center in Panampilly Nagar, Kochi. We reached there for new years eve by around 10 pm. The place was very crowded and noisy, coz there was another new year party going on downstairs. Then we caught the lift and went to the restaurant. We had to wait there for a few minutes. Then they escorted us to the table. We actually took a round table. It was nicely laid out with a cutlery and a napkin. Then they came and took our orders for drinks. It was a buffet dinner.  So we had to pay for the dinner, before entering the restaurant.  And they didn't have any starters. They only had salads, main course and desserts. I didn't take the salads as I am allergic to cold food. From the buffet, I took the noodles, stir fried beef and the mushrooms. They were amazing. For the dessert, there were pastries, cakes and carrot halwa. I had half a carrot halwa. I didn't eat the full thing coz of my health issues. After dinner, we sat
